9/11 The Awful Truth

9/11 The Awful Truth

An account of the conspiracy behind the 9/11 Attack on America, the ensuing cover-up, and the pillars of law and journalism that sustain it to this day.

After 31 years trying death penalty cases and the like in Contra Costa County, California, for 13 years supervising the first Alternate Defender Office in the country to handle felony cases, William Veale retired as Chief Assistant Public Defender. Then he filed a lawsuit accusing three of the most powerful men on the planet of mass murder and treason for complicity in the Attacks of 9/11. This is Veale's account of what happens when such power is confronted with undeniable facts and must resort to the most egregious abuse of judicial power imaginable. Then-Vice President Dick Cheney became the first sitting vice president in the history of the nation to be accused of what amounted to war crimes. Among the government operatives employed in the termination of the case was Judge John Walker, first cousin once removed of President George W. Bush. The records of the case and Veale's various letter pleas to influential citizens complete this account of the crime, its cover-up, and most importantly the abject failure of the press in this country to stand up at all much less as a participant in the fight for justice.

Review

William Veale, a veteran public defender and former lecturer at UC Berkeley Law School, tells of his attempt to expose "the worst single criminal act ever committed on American soil." He began by meeting and corresponding with various political and media figures, discussing evidence of insider involvement in 9/11. Finding these conversations not to be fruitful for his purpose, Veale filed a lawsuit against members of the Bush administration, in which he provided convincing evidence that 9/11 was a false-flag operation. But judges with conflicts of interest - including a Bush cousin - suppressed his evidence, even penalizing him. Veale's book, laced with irony, is riveting. DAVID RAY GRIFFIN "9/11, The Awful Truth" is the poignant journey of a public defender's battle to expose the 9/11 myth through public figures, the media, and the courts. Presented with legal precision, the evidence for domestic complicity seems unassailable. Veale then raises foundational questions about the condition of our society: "Where do we turn for hope?" he asks. "I believe there is a power in truth itself... and with each year, more participants who know important pieces of information come closer to their deaths and closer to the meaning of their lives." This book brings us to the edge of our seats to face what is real in our lives, transferring the author's courage to us in order to grasp the truth, and then to deal with it. ELIZABETH WOODWORTH

About the Author

William Veale retired as Chief Assistant Public Defender in Contra Costa County, California in 2006 after 31 years trying death penalty cases and the like. For 13 years he was the supervisor of the first Alternate Defender Office in the United States to handle felony criminal cases. In 2008, he and Dennis Cunningham filed a lawsuit on behalf of a soldier injured at the Pentagon accusing then-Vice President Dick Cheney, former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, and then Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Air Force General Richard Myers of complicity in the Attacks of 9/11, mass murder, and treason.

Dennis Cunningham was named Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2004 for his victory in the Earth First and Judi Bari v. the FBI Case. That came toward the back end of a 40-year career as a civil rights lawyer, having been a founder of the People's Law Office in Chicago where he sued the FBI and the Chicago Police for the murder of Black Panther leader Fred Hampton. After Chicago, Dennis went to New York to handle the litigation following the prison riots at Attica, settling the civil cases against the State of New York 27 years later.
